This award-winning pool cabana is an indoor-outdoor oasis. Built as an independent structure that blends in beautifully with the main home, the pool cabana first gained national attention when it won the NARI Contractor of the Year award for Residential Detached Structures. Just a few weeks later, it was published in the industry magazine KBB. It also won 1st Place in the ASID Shining Star Awards (Outdoor Living).
Dreaming up the "entertainer's paradise"
The family in this Keller, Texas home loves the outdoors and spends extended time with friends and family. So, when new products on the market made it easier than ever to blend the indoors and outdoors in their home, the couple came up with a long list of selections that they dreamed of using in a newly built pool house on their property. They were eager to see how many of their dream features they could combine.
They dreamed of having it all, and they got it
The homeowners had a vision, and they trusted the Signature team to realize it. After renovating their kitchen and primary bathroom before, they were accustomed to the team's quality of work. They came to the table with the long list of products they dreamed of for their indoor-outdoor space, including 10-foot gas fireplaces, a sound system, three grills, a private patio, a Southwest Shade Solutions shade system, a custom 15-foot Pella doorway, and more. The principal challenge was to fit it all together in a cohesive way while ensuring the longevity of every selection.
Design priorities included:
- Ensuring everything-from cabinetry to the TVs-was rated for outdoor use
- Ensuring the HVAC system, fireplaces, and fans provided year-round comfort
- Adding a 15-foot indoor-outdoor entryway between the kitchen and the backyard
- Using the Southwest Shade Solutions blinds to create an all-seasons indoor-outdoor environment
- Building a pool cabana that, while an independent structure, blended in with the home
- Including a private gym in the enclosed rooms at the back of the pool cabana
- Designing adequate ventilation for the three grills in the cabana kitchen
The complex schedule required when building a new structure
The Signature Home Services team managed every subcontractor and task over the course of this eight-month build. They started with preparing and laying a foundation, then framing and roofing came next. The team managed a schedule of 10 subs in addition to the in-house staff of carpenters and designers. There were even selections manufactured and shipped from Belgium, and the Signature production team seamlessly coordinated it all.
An indoor-outdoor oasis the family loves every day of the year
The pool cabana integrates flawlessly into the existing home, and the homeowner revels in how perfectly equipped it is for all seasons. They've enjoyed countless gatherings in the space. Every time it exceeds their expectations, beguiles their guests, and inspires a lasting sense of satisfaction with their investment.
